The Importance of Aligning With your Message Inside and Out

aligning with your message

What if you are a motivational speaker and you do not feel very motivated?  Or, what if you are out delivering leadership training while back at your office things are falling apart?

Congruence is not just an idea; it is a way of life.  This is why speakers must align with their message from the inside out. A major part of finding success as a speaker is being authentic – someone who talks the talk and walks the walk.

You train people on customer service = You call clients back lickety split.

You give keynotes on ethics = You do the right thing even when no one is looking.

You coach people on time management = You need to be efficient and on time.

It is not enough to offer the topic; you have to be congruent with that topic, which means walking your talk every day.

Do we slip up? Of course. To err is human.

Here at Speaker Launcher we teach people how to run a better business using all of the tools that we use. However, we are far from perfect. We make mistakes. We screw up. It sometimes takes us more than one try to get something right.

Here is the key. Here is the authenticity:

Being transparent when we mess up allows us to use the moment as a teaching tool that can be shared to help us grow. It makes us authentic. It makes us real. It gives us the ability to say, “Don’t do this…we found out the hard way…” It shows those we are trying to reach that we talk the talk and walk the walk.

Are you aligned with your message inside and out? Are you walking your talk so you add more value to those you stand in front of?

If the answer is no, it is time to make some changes.

See you soon Wealthy Speakers!
