I have a suspicion what the results will say, but what I know for sure is that many of my clients come to me because they aren’t happy and would like to be earning more. And, that the Ready, Aim, Fire strategies give them the confidence required to command higher fees and secure them 95% of the time.
One of my clients said, “I’m getting less fee resistance at $20K than I did at $17K.” (Note, if your client has $17K in the budget, they likely have $20K).
Another client emailed me with a confirmation of a full fee booking 15 minutes after agreeing to raise her fees. She wasn’t charging nearly enough, and perception (how good can she be if her fee is that low) was undermining her.
Sometimes it’s an “energy” thing. When you show up feeling revved up and confident that you can truly help solve their problems, you change the way the client responds to you during fee conversations.
I can tell you in all honesty that it has been YEARS since I negotiated my fee. I don’t make room in my mental space for it. And people simply don’t ask.
