As a professional speaker, there may come times when you don’t feel completely confident with the topic you’re speaking on. As we’ve heard from other speakers, this can sometimes stem from inadequacies in your own life where you’re just not currently walking the talk. But there are other instances where you may struggle with selling your topic because it’s intangible and seemingly too difficult to quantify. Like hope.
It doesn’t matter what you speak about, so long as you 100% believe in it. More from @LibbyGill in this #podcast! #sellingyourtopic #confidence Click to tweet
In this episode of The Wealthy Speaker Podcast, I’m joined by Libby Gill.
Libby, the former head of communications and public relations for corporations like Sony, Turner Broadcasting, and Universal, now serves as the CEO of Libby Gill & Company, an executive coaching and consulting firm. Through her firm, she inspires purpose and helps ignite performance in the leaders of organizations like Capital One, Disney, Honda, and Microsoft.
In addition, she is an award-winning author. Her latest book, The Hope-Driven Leader: Harness the Power of Positivity, was just published this month. As you can see from the title, Libby’s focus as a speaker, coach, and consultant is to demonstrate to executives how to use hope in order to inspire positive outcomes in the future. But that’s not always the easiest thing to sell to an audience, is it?
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about how you as a speaker can go about selling something seemingly intangible and unquantifiable like hope. Libby answers questions like:
- Why is hope such an important topic right now?
- What would you say is the process for you to begin selling hope or some other intangible topic to your clients?
- What are your definition and the differences between hope and optimism?
- How to stay motivated as a corporate speaker
- How to really kill it as a female speaker today
There’s a lot to be learned from this seasoned professional, and so I hope you can take away a couple valuable lessons from her.
